And You Wonder Why? [a sort of follow up to the last blog]

Sometimes in this world, we can feel like scurrying ants. Not noticed until we piss someone off.

The problem is of course that we spend so much time trying to fit in that we hope no one notices the places in which we don't fit in.

AND THEN WE WONDER WHY WE FEEL INSIGNIFICANT!

Have you ever taken the time to look at the people that everyone seems to notice? They simply don't fit in. They are too good looking, or very ugly. They are too smart, or not. They are the life of the party, or the party pooper.

But they are noticed. No insignificance for them! No siree Bob!

They stand out in fine form, in your face as it were.

I know, right about now your thinking, this girl has a screw loose, but think about it.

One of my favorite quotes is

“It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that things are difficult.” -Seneca

So if you think about it, it isn't difficult to get noticed, if you dare to be different.

But how different do you want to be? In what way do you want to be noticed? The choice is yours (and mine) to make.

No matter what you do with your life, be content with the fact the choice is yours.

The hardest part in this however, is that people who are noticed are open to public scrutiny. Not a comfortable place to be. True, you cannot please all the people all the time, but if you can't take the criticism with the accolades, maybe you don't really want to be noticed. The true measure of a public persona, is how well criticisms are accepted. Now, no one likes to be criticized, but it does have its place. And by analyzing both the positive and negative criticism, you can (If you are brave enough) grow from the experience. This is not for the faint of heart, and requires the self-control to think before reacting/responding, but can be very good for you (and me).

So this is stuff I struggle with all the time, but I am learning to think first, and value the criticism. Even when it hurts.
